AWC Staff Services are looking for a Electrical Design Engineer to join our client, who are a successful security company who specialise in security/access control systems to some of the largest utility companies across the UK as part of the national grid technology framework.
As the Design Engineer, you will be responsible for

Carrying out Site Surveys on Electrical Transmission & Gas Transmission Sites (UK mainland).

Producing Detailed Electrical Designs & Detailed Security Designs (LV & ELV) in line with Legislation, Customer Specification, Technical Standards, Quality & Environmental Standards.

Follow own (and others) Designs through to 3rd Party approval/appraisal, construction, commissioning and project completion/handover (Cradle to Grave).
Your responsibilities will include:

Carry out Site Surveys (using client site specific specifications).

Producing RFI’s and TQ’s.
-
Producing Concept Design Packages (for internal review).
-
Producing Detailed Design Packages (for external review).
-
For ensuring that company management systems and processes are adhered to.
-
To be proactively involved in supporting the Design Team and Construction Team throughout the duration of the project.

Proactively attend and input at HAZID/HAZCON/Design Assurance & Review Meetings.
-
For promoting good practice of Hazard removal or mitigation during the Design Phase.
-
Proactively manage Design Change Control, identify project risks and devise contingency plans.
-
Develop best practices and tools for design execution management.
-
Proactive communication with the Design Team & Project Management Team.
-
Proactive communication with the P6 Planners.
-
Be able to switch from one project to another should the priority change.
-
To mentor and develop new and existing engineers within their roles.
To apply for the role, you must have experience with:

Amtech Electrical Design Software (or ElectricalOM).

AutoCAD.
-
2D Drawings (General Arrangement/Site Layout/Kiosks/Rooms/Building’s etc).
-
3D Building Information Modelling (BIM) or willing to learn Revit.
-
Designing Low Voltage and Extra Low Voltage AC Sytems.
-
Designing AC UPS Systems.
-
Designing DC Systems.
-
Designing Security Systems (Door Access, CCTV, Power Fence etc).
-
Produce Block Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams, Wiring Schematics.
-
Produce Cable Schedules, Load Schedule, Material Schedules and Equipment Schedules.
