Primary SEN Experience Essential | KS2 | Long-Term to Permanent
Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background supporting children with additional needs?
Protocol Education is recruiting a dedicated LSA for a primary school in BS16, Bristol, supporting a Key Stage 2 pupil in Year 3/4.
This is a full-time, Monday–Friday opportunity with the potential to become a permanent position with the school.
About the Role
You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex additional needs, including Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
You will play an important role in helping the pupil access the curriculum, manage day-to-day challenges, build confidence and develop greater independence.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
Supporting access to lessons and classroom activities.
Adapting tasks and learning approaches to meet individual needs.
Using appropriate strategies to support Autism and PDA.
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement.
Building a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil.
Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
Maintaining a calm, structured and supportive environment.
Essential Requirements
Primary school-based SEN experience is essential.
Previous experience as an LSA, SEN TA or Teaching Assistant.
Experience supporting children with complex additional needs.
Direct experience supporting Autism and PDA is highly desirable.
Experience working with KS2 pupils, ideally Year 3/4.
Patient, calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to commit to full-time, Monday–Friday.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
