We're delighted to be recruiting for a fantastic new opportunity with a growing small business in Jarrow. This is a brand-new position within the business, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to take ownership, improve processes and help shape the role as the company continues to grow.
This position will initially be offered on a temporary basis, with a view to becoming permanent for the right person. We are particularly interested in candidates who are available immediately or have a short notice period and are keen to secure a long-term opportunity.
This is a hands-on role where no two days will necessarily be the same. We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and happy to muck in and get involved across all areas of the business.
The Details
📍 Location: Jarrow, office based
⏰ Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 24 hours per week (8 hours per day)
🔄 Flexibility: Potential flexibility on hours for the right person
💷 Pay Rate: £14 per hour, depending on experience
📄 Contract: Temporary initially, with a view to becoming permanent
🚀 Start Date: Immediate start or short notice preferred

You'll provide essential administrative support across the business, helping to keep everything running smoothly both in the office and for the team working on site.
As this is a new role, there is plenty of scope to develop it as the business grows. You'll have the opportunity to introduce and streamline processes, improve organisation and become a key part of the day-to-day running of the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
Processing invoices using Xero
Raising purchase orders and allocating costs
Inputting and checking site staff timesheets, preparing information in Excel and exporting to the accountant
Allocating jobs to site staff and issuing job sheets
Ordering materials, PPE, stationery and uniforms
Managing fuel cards and ID cards
Maintaining accurate employee records
Processing DBS checks for site staff
Supporting Health & Safety administration
Managing contractor H&S documentation
Keeping staff certifications and accreditation records up to date
Supporting compliance administration
Assisting with supplier queries and obtaining quotations for materials
Streamlining and implementing administrative processes
Providing general administrative support wherever neededAbout You
We're looking for someone who is practical, organised and proactive, with a genuine willingness to get involved.
You'll be someone who enjoys being the person who keeps everything organised, spots what needs doing and gets on with it, rather than waiting to be asked.
You'll be comfortable managing different priorities, working independently and taking ownership of your workload. Most importantly, you'll be someone who mucks in, takes pride in getting things right and wants to become a valued part of a growing business.
Ideally, you'll have:
Previous administration experience
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Good Excel/Microsoft Office skills
Strong communication skills
A proactive, hands-on approach
The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Confidence working independently
A willingness to support colleagues across the businessXero experience would be ideal but is not essential - training can be provided for the right person.
