Third Party Claims Handler — Motor & Credit Hire | Bolton | £27,000 – £30,000 | Full or part-time
Know your way around third party motor claims and credit hire, and want the complex files rather than the easy ones?
We're recruiting an experienced Third Party Claims Handler for an established general insurer just outside Bolton. You'll handle third party vehicle and property damage claims end to end — investigation, liability, negotiation, resolution — including the disputed liability files and the credit hire challenges that need someone who actually knows the arguments.
This is a third party claims handler role with real technical weight. If you've got two years or more in motor claims or credit hire and you're tired of being handed only the straightforward files, this is the one.
What you'll be doing
Managing all aspects of third party claims: investigation, negotiation and resolution
Investigating liability, working with other departments and running your own enquiries
Handling more advanced cases — high-value claims and disputed liability files
Assessing and managing credit hire: validation, negotiation, and challenging excessive hire charges
Liaising with solicitors, insurers and accident management companies
Recognising and escalating potentially fraudulent activity
Prioritising your own caseload and supporting wider team duties
Maintaining a high standard of service with every party to the claim
What you'll need
Minimum 2 years' motor claims experience to be considered at the upper end of the range
Third party or credit hire experience — the more disputed-liability work, the better
Confident dealing with solicitors and accident management companies
High attention to detail and sound judgement on liability
Comfortable across multiple systems
GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
Holding or willing to work towards the CII Certificate (fully supported and funded)
What's on offer
£27,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
35-hour week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm — and genuinely flexible working patterns
Full-time or part-time considered
On site in Bolton with free on-site parking (hybrid options)
Full support and funding towards CII qualifications
Holiday allowance that increases with length of service, plus a holiday sell scheme
Your birthday off, and a half-day for seasonal shopping
Contributory pension, cycle to work scheme, discounted sports and social
Cash bonus for going above and beyond
Casual dress, free branded clothing
Trained mental health and first-aid staff on site
The honest bit
It's an on-site (poss hybrid) role in Bolton — the flexibility here is in the working pattern, not the location. The upside is the work itself: this employer is growing through new contracts and internal promotions, so the complex files and the progression are both real. If you want disputed liability and credit hire rather than a volume FNOL queue, this is a good seat.
Apply now and we'll come back to you to talk it through properly — including who the employer is, the team structure, and what flexibility is genuinely on the table
