JOB SUMMARY
The Acute Care Director will have responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating the growth and development of patient care services for the Medical, Surgical and Oncology Nursing Units. The director ensures the delivery of quality patient care by providing administrative and technical direction and establishing monitoring program goals to assess outcomes making changes as needed to achieve the desired goals and objectives within budgetary guidelines.Provides professional development opportunities for unit managers and leads each unit in succession planning, career development, and engagement strategies. Understands the intricacies of each department and collaborates with the manager to create a process improvement strategy to move quality metrics forward. Works collaboratively with inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary leaders to assure smooth patient flow and bi-directional feedback on processes affecting patient care.

Education :
• Bachelor's Degree (Required)
• Master's Degree
Experience/Physical Requirements :
Light Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. with a maximum lifting of 25 lbs. Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in a director role.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Excellence Provides oversight of all quality and safety aspects of care for the departments which s/he oversees with adherence to best practice standards and ongoing performance improvement activities which correlate to the overall quality and PI Plan involving all level of staff within the department. Identifies and effectively assists in implementation of strategic plans. Implements all quality measures to ensure patient safety, including, but not limited to fall prevention, HAI (CLABSI, CAUTI, SSI, skin integrity/wound prevention etc.) Maintains regulatory readiness/excellence by ensuring that environment of care rounds are conducted and adherence to DNV, OFLACH, COP standards. Ensures staff competency and meeting educational deadlines for annual education. Stewardship Financial accountability for reporting units to include supply and human resource management. Adherence to productivity standards and ensuring that variances are reported in a timely manner. Review of all requests for contract labor and appropriate analysis of need, continued utilization, and/or timely communication with recruitment for transitioning to internal travel staff. Assessment of equipment and appropriate replacement for quality and safety; obtaining quotes and submitting prior to deadlines for inclusion in annual budget. Review of departmental stats for accuracy and working with finance team to correct variances, if any. People and Culture Focuses on professional growth and development of self and staff. Works with managers to identify potential leaders and help them reach their goals through opportunities to sit on communities, promotes Shared Governance involvement, and advancement through education and certification. Meets timeline for engagement action plans, performance evaluations, and regular rounding of staff and managers. Ensures that each department has monthly staff meetings with appropriate follow up and cascading messaging to staff. Ensures that staff meet annual deadlines to include vaccination, licensure, certifications (BLS, ACLS, other.) Strategic Growth Works with Service Line Leaders and Administrators to explore growth opportunities and develop strategic and implementation plans for the departments. Provider Led Care Team Works collaboratively with Providers and the multidisciplinary care team to identify areas of improvement to facilitate patient flow, quality of care, and decrease LOS. Works with Providers on educating staff to new procedures and post procedures plans of care.
