This is a hybrid role, based in G-Research’s office in Dallas.
Do you want to tackle the biggest questions in finance with near infinite compute power at your fingertips?
G-Research is a leading quantitative research and technology firm, with offices in London and Dallas.
We are proud to employ some of the best people in their field and to nurture their talent in a dynamic, flexible and highly stimulating culture where world-beating ideas are cultivated and rewarded.
This is a hybrid role based in our new Dallas infrastructure hub where we work on the latest technologies in a cutting-edge environment.
The role
The G-Research Storage Engineering team manages our high performance scalable storage and is responsible for the design, deployment and operation of this storage platform, which supports the research workloads of our Researchers, and is a core component of infrastructure.
Managing a 24x7 platform across time zones is challenging and we are excited to now be able to hire into our Dallas office where we are looking to expand our storage team to work alongside our UK team daily.
Working alongside our UK team, you will optimize and troubleshoot workflows alongside our Researchers and Software Engineers, as well as our Networks team and external vendors, including DELL, VAST, HPE and RUBRIK.
A typical day will start with a check-in with the team, planning the handover of any maintenance activities later that day. Through the UK’s afternoon, you will share the operational workload (typically user queries and provisioning requests), then as the UK staff roll off, take responsibility for monitoring onsite vendor engineers and handling any problems that are observed or reported, escalating when needed.
For candidates with particularly strong coding skills, you will have the opportunity to work through a backlog of development work (automation and reporting), which our DevOps sub-team are eager to share with you.
Who are we looking for?
As a Storage Engineer, your input contributes directly to the productivity of our Researchers and the success of the company as a whole.
The ideal candidate needs to be self-driven, hardworking and demonstrate strong problem solving skills, as well as a healthy interest in technology, hardware and high performance scalable storage platforms.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Linux administration skills
Some proficiency in Python
A keen interest in GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, such as Ansible, Jenkins and Kubernetes
The ability to communicate clearly, especially remotely, with the team and wider company
Why should you apply?

Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
Excellent paid time off allowance of 25 days

Generous 401(k) plan
