The therapist functions under the supervisor of the Director of Respiratory Therapy or supervisor and is responsible for based respiratory therapy in general patient care areas. Advanced patient care responsibilities and duties may also be assigned as deemed appropriate by director or supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.
Registry eligible according to National Board for Respiratory Care. Must meet all registered requirements within one year of employment.
2.
Licensed by State Board of Respiratory Care as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist – Registered (LRTR) within one year of employment.
3.
Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

1.
Performs basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by order of the physician.
2.
Performs emergency and acute Respiratory Care procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
3.
Assembles, checks, and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on Respiratory Care equipment.
4.
Initiates, maintains, and discontinues mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
5.
Performs and analyzes arterial blood gas samples adhering to standards of accrediting agencies (CAP, Joint Commission).
6.
Performs diagnostic procedures including bronchoscopies, pulse oximetry, and pH trend studies.
7.
Communicates appropriately and effectively with other members of the healthcare team regarding all aspects of patient care.
8.
Provides assistance with patient and family/caregiver education along with other members of the healthcare team.
9.
Actively participates in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities.
10.
Maintains clinical and professional competency based upon established standards of practice.
11.
Demonstrates the ability to perform all relevant departmental competencies.
12.
Performs basic and advanced diagnostic procedures for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by order of the Physician
