Job Function:
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing direct primary care to Monroe Community College students and reports to the Associate Director and Director of Counseling, Disability & Health Services.
Student Health Services provides quality clinical and educational services that enhance the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of our students. Our collaborative and holistic approach to student health and development supports academic and co-curricular success, the development of healthy lifestyles, and a healthy campus community to enable a diverse student population to pursue the primary goal of acquiring an education with minimal lost time or distraction due to physical or emotional issues supporting retention and completion.
Student Health Services is part of an integrated department collaborating with on-campus departments, Monroe County Health Department and other community support services. The Nurse Practitioner will provide direct primary care to enrolled MCC students by managing uncomplicated, acute illnesses and injuries, managing chronic health problems, providing health screening and teaching, making appropriate referrals, perform physical examinations, provide diagnosis and care for common health problems and minor illness.
Primary Functions:
Supervision of registered professional nurses and clerical staff.
Write prescriptions, as needed.
Assist in development of clinical protocols, which define the scope and practice of the NP position, as well as, the clinical staff within the office.
Establish and maintain high standards of practice through involvement in Quality Improvement activities.
Provide consultation to students, faculty, staff and/or parents regarding health conditions pertaining to students while assuring confidentiality of students.
Listen and respond to concerns of students and parents regarding health care issues.
Ensure College compliance with mandated services related to the Health Services Department.
Implement and ensure student compliance with the New York State Public Health Law, Section 2165, regarding measles, mumps, rubella and meningitis vaccinations.
Ensure contractual medical requirements are met by students and faculty for area clinical facilities and athletes per NCJAA regulations.
Represent Student Health Services by working collaboratively and in cooperation with other health team members involved in the delivery of total patient care, within the department, and throughout the campus community.
Assist in the development and implementation of preventive health education.
Confer, collaborate, and refer, as indicated, to community agencies and social agencies using a multi-disciplinary approach.
Assist in development/implementation of professional growth activities.
Assure that appropriate standards are followed pertaining to OSHA.
Demonstrate professional conduct and competent practice consistent with policies, procedures and protocols.
Assume responsibility for maintaining current licensure, review professional literature and incorporating knowledge into practice.
Procure and maintain Professional Liability Insurance.
Assure confidentiality of student health records and appropriate procedures for release of information to students, faculty, staff and professionals/agencies outside of the college.
Perform other duties and responsibilities that contribute to the service offerings of the department and overall mission of the College that are assigned by the supervisors of the Counseling, Disability, and Health Services department.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Must pass the next Nurse Practitioner Civil Service exam given by Monroe County and be reachable.
Nurse Practitioner candidates require a NYS license to practice as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner and prescriptive privileges in State of New York.
Master's degree in Nursing from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
Must provide documentation of certification, licensure, and malpractice insurance.
Three to five years' experience in an advanced practice role that includes supervisory experience, or related equivalent experience, is required.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience with electronic medical records to perform required charting of student contacts and to access student health records.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in ambulatory, urgent or emergency care, sexual and reproductive health and/or medication management for mental health concerns.
Ability to work independently with the judgement necessary to collaborate in a timely and appropriate manner.

Job Type: Full-time
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:45a to 4:45p
Salary: step 5 $91,510.62 per year with increment at 1 year of service
