*SUMMARY *
To provide dental care in the diagnosis and treatment of patients of the PATHS School
Based Clinic. Responsible for providing preventative and restorative dental care that is consistent with accepted professional standards to children ages from Kindergarten to twelfth grade. Expected to consistently work to ensure patient satisfaction and maintain positive relationships with the PATHS’ staff and school personnel. Works as part of a care team that practices evidenced based medicine in a Patient Centered Medical Home model of care.
*Education and/or experience *
Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS)
*Competencies *
• Minimum of one years’ experience in human/social services, preferably in a healthcare environment.
• Training or direct experience in counseling, interviewing, service plan development, decision making, and information and referral services is preferred.
*Essential Functions *

1. Provide general and comprehensive dentistry services and supervise dental and clinical staff.
2. Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of clinical dental policies and procedures.
3. Diagnose and evaluate dental conditions and maintaining accurate dental records to support diagnose/evaluation.
4. Interpret x-rays and treat mouth diseases. Provide restorations and other treatment as needed.
5. Perform emergency procedures on patients to reduce or eliminate pain. Assess treatment options and agree on treatment plan with patients.
6. Instruct/educate patients in oral hygiene and dental care.
7. Assist with the development and implementation of Dental Quality Assurance.
8. Train and evaluate assigned dental staff.
9. Other assignments by Dental director as necessary.
10. Provides supervision and guidance for PATHS’ Dental Assistant and Dental Hygienist.
