The role
G-Research’s Infrastructure group is looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer specialising in FinOps to join its expanding global team in Dallas.
As an AWS FinOps Engineer, you'll work primarily on maximising the value and efficiency of our cloud spend. You will help to define best practices to ensure responsible cloud spend and help forecast future spend.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
Developing and implementing cost optimization strategies to maximize efficiency and minimize waste across AWS services
Monitoring cloud usage and spending patterns, identifying areas for optimization and cost-saving opportunities
Collaborating with engineering and operations teams to align cloud resources with business objectives and performance requirements
Utilizing AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and other cost management tools to analyse spending trends and forecast future expenditures
Establishing and enforcing governance policies and best practices to ensure responsible cloud spending and resource utilization
Working with finance teams to track and report on cloud spending, providing dashboards for insights and recommendations for budget management and forecasting
Identifying opportunities for Reserved Instance purchases, Spot Instance utilization, and other cost-saving mechanisms
Conducting regular audits of AWS accounts to identify unused or underutilized resources, recommending decommissioning or rightsizing as necessary
Staying informed about AWS pricing updates, service offerings, and cost management best practices to continuously improve FinOps processes
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
3+ years of experience in financial analysis, cost management, or cloud computing, with a focus on AWS
Ability to code in Python
Experience working with infrastructure as code tooling, such as Terraform
Strong proficiency in AWS cost management tools and services, including AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and AWS Cost and Usage Reports
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights
Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, architectures, and services offered by AWS
Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders across different departments
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas and findings to technical and non-technical audiences
Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer is highly desirable
