Position Summary
1.Delivers quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, implementation, and evaluation) to guide care delivery.
2.Executes, revises and evaluates the ECU Health Medical Center Nursing Professional Practice Model and Model of Care. Delivery to support professional practice and collaborative partnerships with each other, physicians and members of the healthcare team.
3.Engages in professional growth and development, continuing competence and lifelong learning, quality of care and research to positively affect empirical outcomes. Develops others in the profession.
4. Participates in a leadership role, in community partnerships and collaborative initiatives such as processional organizations and community outreach programs.
Minimum Requirements
Associated Degree Nursing (ADN) Required - or higher.
Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Registered Nurse or temporary North Carolina licensure or status as defined in job description.
Current American Heart Association BLS required.
Clinical experience as part of education.
Meets all the other criteria/requirements as defined by EastCare Policy and Procedure.
AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NRP, and a trauma certification must be obtained before the end of orientation.
Must obtain your EMT within one year from the end of your orientation. One specialty certification for example, CFRN must be obtained within 2 years of hire is required.
3 years of experience OR 4,000 hours as a RN is required from an ICU or ER setting. Experience as an EastCare Flight Paramedic per department policy may qualify as applicable years of experience.
The ability to treat patients under EastCare protocols is determined by the EastCare Medical Director.
All employees who were employed as a Flight Nurse and weight no more than 250 pounds before January 1, 2019, are considered grandfathered in terms of weight requirements, and therefore competent to perform their duties and responsibilities.
Any grandfathered employee who vacates their position and later seeks rehire as a Flight Nurse must meet the minimum position requirements existing at the time of rehire.

AHA PALS, NRP must be obtained before the end of orientation. EMT within one year from the end of orientation.
One specialty certification in neonatal/pediatric field (for example C-NPT) obtained within 2 years of hire. 3 years of experience as a RN with some experience in neonatal, pediatric, or critical care field.
Maintain a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds or less. The Flight Nurse hired prior to January 1, 2019 may maintain a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds or less.
