MRI Technologist
Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa is seeking a fulltime MRI Technologist to perform MRI clinical studies for our busy multi-specialty clinic.
This individual will perform patient care procedures within their professional certification and scope of practice under the established IDPH, ACR, ARRT as well as PCI policies and procedures. The PCI service standards will be advocated by the successful candidate as they provide quality diagnostic patient care in our private medical practice.
Responsibilities include the following:
Exhibits excellent customer service focused building positive relationships with our patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers and community referral sources.
Is proficient in our EMR program including electronic order processing and documentation of examinations and patient care provided.
Properly executes imaging exam protocols as ordered including consultations with interpreting radiologist and/or ordering provider when necessary. Secures previous relating exams for comparison.
Obtains and documents relevant and current patient clinical health history.
Schedules imaging exams in EMR program including CPT exam coding and pre-authorization knowledge.
Is proficient with PCI and community PACS programs including achieving, exporting and reformatting images when applicable.
Performs basic patient care within the scope of practice and PCI standards including specific MRI safety related work behaviors.
Competency with intravenous access and power-port injection techniques.
Under the supervision of a physician and within the scope of practice, demonstrates intravenous skills and contrast media injection by hand and power injector usage.
Performs and maintains quality assurance testing for daily equipment and accreditation compliance. Including ACR accreditation testing.
Cross trains and assists staffing needs throughout the PCI Imaging Department. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to educating and preparing patients for their imaging studies, as well as occasional clerical and transport functions.
CPR certification required- ACLS preferred.
The qualified candidate should have the ability to perform all high modality imaging procedures, within their field of expertise, demonstrating a sound understanding of anatomical positioning and pathology with the technical expertise to select and modify the exam protocols or sequences to produce the optimal scan results.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and teamwork are needed to work effectively with
patients, department team members and other PCI staff. Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to work independently required. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail with excellent computer skills also required.
Must be a graduate of an approved A.R.R.T. program with current A.R.R.T. (R) (MR) registration and Iowa Permit to Practice license in Radiography. Board certification MRI required. Minimum 2 years MRI technology clinical experience preferred.
