Position Summary:
Under indirect supervision, the Brazer is responsible for set-up and brazing small assemblies together to meet print specifications. Works safely and ensures best quality products within prescribed times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of two years of brazing experience or a combination of related education and experience required. Must be able to read drawings and follow operation sheet instructions. Must have knowledge and experience with the proper use of machinist tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers, indicators and gauges.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Accurately set up part assemblies in correct fixtures using operation sheets and related assembly instructions.
• Proper application of fluxes and other coatings where needed according to instructions.
• Proper set up of induction heat machines and/or Oxy-acetylene torches as jobs require.
• Using induction heat machines or Oxy- Acetylene torch to heat workpieces to proper temperature, melting braze alloy and bonding workpieces together.
• Clean joints of workpieces using prescribed methods including using fine brushes and boiling in hot water.
• Inspect brazed joints under magnification to ensure conformance to Engineering Instructions as well as other controlling documents.
• Inspect all parts using indicators, micrometers and gauges to ensure conformance to print.
• Utilize Tig welding techniques when necessary to weld components while practicing all welding safety protocols
• Accurately fill out paperwork and log all work into computer data collection terminals
• Maintain Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on all equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of manufactured parts under magnification and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite manufacturing duties. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
