Responsibilities:
Directs and participates in the day-to-day resident activities
Provides for the delivery of professional nursing care in accordance with state licensure laws
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and facility guidelines that govern the nursing center
Ensures that resident care policies and procedures are followed by nursing service personnel in compliance with facility Quality Standards
Completes and/or assures completion of required forms
Monitors medical equipment for adequacy and safety and request service for maintenance and repairs
Identifies resident care problems and concerns, contributes to short-term goal
-setting and nursing approaches on the interdisciplinary care plan
Ensures that nursing care approaches are communicated to and implemented by nursing unit staff and communicates with nursing staff throughout the shift
Ensures that medications and controlled substances are ordered, received, administered, documented, stored and disposed of in accordance with state regulations and facility policies and procedures
Ensures treatments are administered and documented in accordance with state regulations and facility policies and procedures
Investigates incidents and completes incident/accident reports in accordance with facility standards, policies and procedures
Provides input to the performance appraisal for nursing assistants
Provides on-going constructive feedback to Nursing Assistants
Orients new hires in the nursing department
Responds to any and all call lights in a timely manner
Qualifications:
The licensed practical nurse's license is in good standing and commensurate with the position.
Strong clinical skills and a passion for providing compassionate, resident-centered care.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents, families, and colleagues.
Commitment to teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Detail-oriented and organized, with a focus on accuracy and patient safety.
