Position Summary:
The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross sectional images of the human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders.
Duties:
Operate head or body x-ray scanners which create a computer-generated cross-sectional image, commonly called a CAT (Computed Axial Tomography) Scan Responsible for educating and preparing patients for their examinations Provide excellent patient care and effective communication that is essential to the performance of a variety of procedures Performs accurate documentation of patient medical records, including documentation of patient medical history before an exam Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients

Inpatient imaging departments assume “on call” rotation on a regular basis. Inpatient imaging technologists are required to cover both hospital locations as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Completion of a Radiologic Technology Associates degree program or equivalent.
- Additional completion of CT technology certificate program preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year Cat Scan experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association certification required. Current R.T.(R)(ARRT) required. Completion of applicable eligibility requirements per ARRT standards within 6 months (120 scans) Must schedule ARRT(CT) within 30 days of completing item #3. Must obtain R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT) within 18 months of completing item #3. American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational development on a case-by-case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.

Physical Requirements: Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
