Fleet Maintenance Equipment Technician II
This position inspects, repairs, and maintains equipment such as light duty vehicles, trucks, compressors, backhoes, wheel loaders, roll off trucks, Class 8 truck tractors, transfer trailers, and sludge hauling trailers.
1. Major Responsibilities
1. Monitor and perform preventive maintenance and repair to equipment such as light duty vehicles, trucks, backhoes, wheel loaders, roll off trucks, Class 8 truck tractors, transfer trailers, and sludge hauling trailers.
2. Perform welding, electrical, tire and hydraulic repairs.
3. Other related duties as assigned.\
2. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1. Experience with light/heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, welding, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
2. Must have the ability to comprehend, carry out, and administer written and oral instruction.
3. Must have the ability to read operation and maintenance manuals, and safety data sheets.
4. Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
3. Education and Experience
1. Must possess minimum of five years of experience with light/heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, welding, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
2. Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
3. Must possess a Texas DPS Certified Vehicle Inspector’s License or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of employment.
4. ASE certification preferred but not required.
4. Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment
This position requires continuous physical exertion often of a strenuous nature. Lifts or pulls/pushes 50 to 100 pounds on a daily basis in order to repair vehicles and equipment while using various tools. Working conditions include exposure to weather, odor, noise, gases and dust. Hand and power tools including impact wrenches, drill press and lathe, welding equipment, pickup truck, service truck, emergency lighting equipment and safety equipment.
