Position Description
The Assistant Director of Nursing will supervise the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department in accordance with current regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality of care is maintained at all times. Duties and Responsibilities
Assist DON in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating day-to-day functions of the nursing department, including therapy, in accordance with state & federal regulations.
Ensure regulatory compliance by participating in or conducting mock surveys, patient interviews & randomly assessing medical administration records.
Reviews 24-hour report from every unit daily to monitor & ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in resident conditions, transfers, discharges, unexplained injuries, falls, behavioral episodes, medication errors, etc.
Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies & institutions to improve quality of services & to resolve identified problems.
Coordinates/oversees Restorative Program & restorative staff, as needed.
Conducts compliance & nursing rounds on all units as needed several times a day, including the beginning & end of each shift, speaking with residents/family and/or staff as needed.
Qualifications
Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state or compact state.
Must have 2 years’ experience as an RN, with 2 years management experience preferred.
Knowledge of long-term care regulations preferred.
