Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant or Trainee Accountant looking for a part-time opportunity within a friendly and established accountancy practice?
We are working with a well-established accountancy practice in Ramsgate that is looking for an experienced accounts professional to join its small and supportive team.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with solid accountancy practice experience who is confident preparing draft accounts from a trial balance and enjoys working directly with clients.
The successful candidate does not need to be fully qualified. AAT Level 4 or above would be advantageous, but candidates with strong relevant experience who are working towards their qualifications will also be considered. The practice is happy to support the right person with their ongoing professional development.
The Role
You'll be responsible for preparing draft accounts and supporting clients with their day-to-day accounting requirements, working closely with the practice owner to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing draft statutory accounts from trial balances
- Working with balance sheets and P&L statements
- Understanding and working with areas such as share capital and dividends
- Maintaining accurate working papers and client records
- Responding to client queries by phone, email and in person
- Working directly with a portfolio of clients
- Supporting with bookkeeping and general accounts work
- Managing your workload effectively with minimal supervision
- Supporting the wider practice with additional accounting duties where required
Please note: The successful candidate will prepare draft accounts but will not be responsible for final sign-off. Final review and sign-off will be completed by the practice owner.
About You
We're looking for someone with practical accountancy experience who is confident working independently and has a good understanding of accounts preparation.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
- Strong experience preparing draft accounts from a trial balance
- AAT Level 4 qualification or above (desirable, not essential)
- An understanding of balance sheets, P&L, share capital and dividends
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confidence dealing directly with clients
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- A willingness to continue developing your accountancy knowledge
Candidates who are not yet qualified but have strong relevant experience will be considered. The practice is also happy to support the right individual through further accountancy qualifications.
Hours & Salary
- 3 days per week initially, with the potential to increase to 4 days
- 9am–4pm
- £16–£18 per hour, depending on experience
- Candidates without AAT Level 4 but with strong relevant experience: £16–£17 per hour
- Additional hours may be available for someone happy to support with bookkeeping and wider accounts work
