Production Manager – 2nd Shift – Abilene, KS
Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Manufacturing, is seeking an experienced individual to join their team as a 2nd Shift Production Manager on our manufacturing team at our Abilene West facility in Abilene, KS.
In this role, you will plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. This role will report to the Plant Manager.
Hours for this position are Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., plus coverage for overtime production on Fridays.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate production, processing, and distribution of products from the Construction Equipment manufacturing facility.
Interface with departments to meet manufacturing objectives, company goals and customer’s needs.
Review processing schedules and production orders to determine staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments.
Review plans and confer with research and support staff to develop new products and processes or improve the quality of existing products.
Coordinate inventory and cost control programs.
Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports to detect production problems.
Review operations and confers with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
Approve expenditures for supplies, materials, and human resources.
Coordinate and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification.
Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
Train, evaluate, and discharge staff.
Resolve personnel grievances.
Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred
Excellent mechanical aptitude and in-depth knowledge of production equipment operation
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and the ability to lead team to improvements
Proficient computer skills in word processing, Internet, Email, Spreadsheets, Software Concepts
Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills, written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
