Assistant Management Accountant
Location: Farnborough

Day Rate: £250 per day
Security Clearance: BPSS required, with eligibility to obtain SC Clearance
Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join a busy Sector Finance team, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial and accounting services across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who is actively studying towards an accounting qualification or looking to further develop their accounting career. The role offers exposure to management accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, project accounting and stakeholder engagement within a large and complex business environment.
Working with limited supervision, you will be responsible for producing, reviewing and analysing financial information, ensuring compliance with company financial policies, procedures and accounting standards.
Key Accountabilities
Support the delivery of high-quality finance and accounting activities across the business.
Produce, review and analyse transactional finance data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, provisions and other month-end accounting adjustments.
Assist with the production of accurate and timely month-end accounts.
Prepare monthly management information and reporting packs.
Monitor and report on capital expenditure.
Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and Balance Sheet Packs.
Attend Project, Cost Centre and Bid Review meetings, providing financial analysis and constructive challenge where appropriate.
Act as a key point of contact for Cost Centre Managers (CCMs), Integrated Delivery Teams (IDTs) and Project Managers (PMs).
Process cost correction postings and maintain financial records.
Prepare AP06 and AP12 statutory reporting packs.
Support contractual reporting requirements, including QDC and SSRO reporting.
Assist with internal and external audit requests and queries.
Support Management Accountants during forecasting and budgeting cycles, taking ownership of activities as experience develops.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support process improvement initiatives.
Provide administrative and operational support to ensure team resilience and business continuity.
Resolve routine finance queries and escalate more complex issues where necessary.

Essential Experience
Project Accounting and/or Cost Centre Accounting experience.
Experience working within a finance function supporting management accounting activities.
Experience working within a large team environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict month-end deadlines.
Experience preparing financial reports, reconciliations and journal postings.
Desirable Experience
Knowledge of SAP.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience supporting forecasting and budgeting activities.
Exposure to statutory, contractual or regulatory reporting requirements.
