Sales Administrator – Home Based£26,000 per annum | Full-Time | 35 Hours per Week
Proactive Personnel are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a Sales Administrator to join their busy and customer-focused sales team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or customer service professional looking for a role that offers flexible home-based working, whilst being part of a supportive and established business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the sales function by processing orders, managing customer enquiries, and ensuring a first-class customer experience at every stage of the order journey.
The Role
As a Sales Administrator, you will be responsible for managing customer orders, handling enquiries, liaising with internal departments, and providing administrative support to the wider commercial team.
This position would suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has exceptional attention to detail, and enjoys building positive relationships with customers and colleagues alike.
Location & Hours
Home-based position
Occasional attendance required at team meetings in either Chester or Gateshead (approximately four times per year)
Full-time – 35 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am – 12:30pm
Key ResponsibilitiesOrder Processing
Process customer purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
Input sales orders onto internal systems.
Check pricing, quantities, delivery information, and product availability.
Liaise with production, planning, and logistics teams to ensure timely order fulfilment.
Customer Service
Handle incoming customer enquiries via telephone and email.
Provide delivery updates and estimated delivery times.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ensure all customer interactions are managed professionally and promptly.
Administration
Generate invoices and supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate customer and order records.
File and manage sales-related documentation.
Assist with reporting and general administrative duties.
Provide support to the wider sales and commercial teams as required.
Skills & Experience RequiredEssential
Previous experience within a Sales Administration, Customer Service, Order Processing, or similar administrative role.
Excellent communication and telephone skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
Competent user of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
A proactive approach with a strong customer-service focus.
Desirable
Experience using AS400 or similar ERP/order processing systems.
Experience working within manufacturing, distribution, or construction-related industries.
