About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join our pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in estimating within a well-established construction business delivering high-quality projects across a variety of sectors.
Working alongside experienced Estimators and the wider pre-construction team, you will assist in the preparation of competitive tenders, cost plans and estimates for projects ranging from refurbishment and restoration works to new-build developments.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.
Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements.
Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
Analyse quotations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Help prepare Bills of Quantities and pricing schedules.
Support the Estimating team in compiling tender documents.
Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments.
Maintain accurate estimating records and cost databases.
Assist with value engineering exercises and cost-saving initiatives.
Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.
Ensure tender submissions are completed accurately and on time. About You:
Previous experience within the construction industry, ideally in an estimating, quantity surveying or commercial support role.
A trade background within the construction industry is highly desirable, particularly in carpentry, bricklaying, joinery, groundwork, general building or a similar construction trade, as this practical knowledge will support the estimating process.
Alternatively, experience in estimating, quantity surveying or another commercial construction role will also be considered.
A relevant qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or currently working towards one) would be advantageous but is not essential.
Good numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a desire to build a long-term career in estimating. Knowledge of estimating software would be beneficial, although full training will be provided where required.
