We're recruiting for a Stores & Materials Operative to support a large-scale rolling stock modernisation programme based in Goole. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced stores, logistics or materials professional to join a high-profile engineering project, ensuring materials are available to support commissioning, modification and fleet activities.
This is an initial 6-month contract with a strong possibility of a permanent opportunity for the right candidate.
The Role
You'll be responsible for the control, storage, movement and tracking of materials across multiple site locations, working closely with Materials Management, Transport, Purchasing, Planning, Commissioning and Engineering teams.
This position combines hands-on stores operations with inventory management and administration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both practical and system-based responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, store, issue and track materials across site.
Coordinate stock movements, deliveries and inter-site transfers.
Monitor stock levels and maintain inventory accuracy.
Support material planning and forecasting activities.
Conduct stock checks, cycle counts and inventory reconciliations.
Create and process inventory transactions using SAP and other internal systems.
Manage goods receipts, stock transfers, purchase requisitions and material issues.
Liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries, returns, repairs and warranty items.
Produce reports relating to stock levels, inventory balances and material availability.
Support commissioning and modification teams by ensuring materials are available when required.
Ensure materials are handled, stored and transported safely in line with company procedures.
Maintain compliance with COSHH requirements and health & safety standards.
Essential Experience & Skills
Previous experience within stores, logistics, warehousing, inventory control or materials management.
Experience managing stock movements and inventory across multiple locations.
SAP experience or experience using a similar ERP system.
Understanding of stock control and material planning processes.
Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe material handling.
Experience coordinating deliveries, suppliers and purchasing activities.
Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational skills and commitment to data accuracy.
Full UK Driving Licence.
