Yard Operator
Location: Sunderland
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Our client are looking for an experienced Yard Operator to join a busy industrial operation in Sunderland. This is a hands-on role involving vehicle movements, forklift operations, loading and unloading activities, stock control, and maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities

Operate forklift trucks and site equipment safely.

Load and unload tankers, drums, and IBCs.

Manage vehicle movements and act as a banksman when required.

Carry out daily equipment checks and report defects.

Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate records.

Ensure all loading and transfer activities are completed safely and in line with procedures.

Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.

Support site safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For

Valid FLT licence and practical forklift experience.

Experience in a chemical, manufacturing, waste, recycling, or industrial environment.

Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience with hazardous materials, permit-to-work systems, or bulk liquid handling would be advantageous
