GSL Education Newcastle branch are working with specialist and supportive schools in Morpeth NE61 to appoint Learning Support Assistant (LSA). We are seeking individuals with experience supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
The successful candidate will help pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence through consistent, tailored support.
Responsibilities of Learning Support Assistant:
Provide individual and small-group support for pupils with PMLD, MLD, and SLD
Assist teachers with adapting classroom activities to meet complex learning needs
Encourage communication, independence, and positive engagement throughout the school day
Support pupils with personal development, routines, and structured learning activities
Work closely with teaching staff and specialist teams to promote pupil progress
Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements for Learning Support Assistant:
Previous experience supporting pupils with PMLD, MLD, or SLD is desirable
Good understanding of additional learning needs and inclusive support strategies
Ability to adapt communication and support methods to suit individual pupils
Calm, patient, and caring approach when working with pupils with complex needs
Commitment to promoting dignity, wellbeing, and positive educational outcomes
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
