Year 2 SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Base

Pay: £95–£110 per day (PAYE options available)

Are you a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs?
Our education recruitment agency is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth to recruit a Year 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to work within the school's specialist Autism Resource Base. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with Autism (ASC) in a structured, nurturing environment where every child's individual needs are prioritised.
The Role
Provide 1:1 and small group support for Year 2 pupils with Autism.
Assist with delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities tailored to individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Support communication, emotional regulation and social development.
Use visual timetables, sensory strategies and communication aids such as PECS or Makaton where appropriate.
Encourage positive behaviour, independence and confidence throughout the school day.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, therapists and parents to ensure pupils make excellent progress.
Support personal care where required.The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children with Autism or other Special Educational Needs in a school, nursery or care setting.
A calm, patient and positive approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of KS1 and Year 2 learning expectations is desirable.
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not essential.
Graduates in Psychology, Education or related subjects are welcome to apply.What the School Offers
