Payroll Assistant
Location: Poole, Dorset
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (D.O.E)
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm & Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm

Due to continuous growth, they are now seeking a skilled and proactive Payroll Assistant to join their dedicated Finance team based in Poole.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll processing for both salaried and hourly-paid employees across multiple sites. This is a dynamic, high-volume environment where your attention to detail will directly impact the smooth running of the business's weekly and monthly payroll cycles.
Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Processing: Manage and execute the full end-to-end payroll process for all employees across weekly and monthly schedules.

Data Processing: Accurately collate timesheets, calculate overtime, and handle all changes including new starters, leavers, and variations to contracts.

Compliance & Records: Maintain flawless employee records (tax codes, deductions, and pensions) while ensuring strict compliance with internal audit controls.

HMRC & Statutory Reporting: Oversee statutory payments (SSP, SMP), manage pensions, and ensure accurate HMRC submissions (FPS, EPS) alongside P45 and P60 production.

Year-End Support: Assist with year-end preparation, payroll journals, and the submission of P11D and P11D(b) forms.

Queries & Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for internal payroll queries, liaising closely with the HR and Finance departments.

Continuous Improvement: Participate in payroll system upgrades, data validation, and proactively suggest ways to improve system efficiency.
What We Are Looking For

Proven Experience: A solid track record in a similar end-to-end payroll position, comfortably handling both hourly and salaried staff.

Legislation Knowledge: Up-to-date, comprehensive knowledge of UK payroll legislation, compliance, and statutory regulations.

Technical Skills: Strong MS Excel skills are essential, alongside the ability to adapt to new payroll software and validate complex data.

Personal Attributes: High level of accuracy, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently. You must be an approachable communicator capable of handling sensitive data with complete professionalism.
