Learning Support Assistants Needed for Secondary Schools Across Stockport
Aspire People are currently recruiting multiple Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to support secondary schools across Stockport for the 2026/27 academic year.
We are seeking enthusiastic, committed, and compassionate individuals who are passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential. These roles are ideal for graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience, particularly those with degrees in Psychology, English or other core subjects.
Both long-term positions for the full academic year and permanent opportunities are available.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and succeed within the classroom environment. You will work closely with teachers and SEND departments to create an inclusive and supportive learning experience for all pupils.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Supporting small groups of pupils with academic and social development
- Assisting students with language barriers to access the curriculum
- Promoting student independence and confidence within the classroom
- Supporting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated learning
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
- Building strong relationships with students, staff, and parents where appropriate
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applications from graduates and experienced support staff who have a genuine interest in education and supporting young people.
Essential Requirements:
- A UK Bachelor's Degree (Psychology, English, Maths, Science, or other relevant subjects)
- Previous experience working with children or young people, which may include:
o School placements
o Tutoring
o Youth work
o Sports coaching
o Mentoring programmes
o Previous school-based employment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, patient, and supportive approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Compliance Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain a new DBS
- Ability to provide references covering the last two years
- Right to work in the UK
