About the Role
Wolverhampton City Council is currently recruiting for a General Assistant to support catering and café operations across a number of sites, including Aldersley Leisure Centre Cafe, West Park Tea Rooms, Bantock House, and Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you will support the delivery of high-quality food service while ensuring an excellent customer experience in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Cook Supervisor with food preparation and service
Support buffet preparation, setup, and replenishment
Prepare and serve hot and cold food and beverages, including use of a barista coffee machine
Operate tills and process both card and cash payments accurately
Deliver excellent customer service at all times
Serve food to customers in a professional and friendly manner
Clear tables promptly and maintain a clean, welcoming environment
Carry out cleaning duties, including washing up and maintaining kitchen and café equipment
Check deliveries, ensure accuracy, and store items safely
Additional Duties
Attend training as required to support operational needs (this may include occasional work outside normal hours)
Work in line with all Council policies, including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, and Financial Regulations
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the café and catering service
