Laundry Assistant
Horsham, West Sussex
£12.71 per hour
Monday to Friday (Mon to Thurs 8am-4pm Fri 8am-1pm)
We are currently recruiting Laundry Assistant to join a well‑established Facilities team within a large, prestigious educational setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety, and wants to contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for young people.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning
- Maintain washrooms, toilets, showers, basins, and tiled areas to a hygienic standard.
- Vacuum carpeted areas, empty bins, remove rubbish, and spot‑clean where needed.
- Wash and machine‑scrub floors; polish hard floor surfaces using appropriate machinery.
- Clean glass panels, doors, cabinets, and partitions.
- Polish brass fixtures to a high standard.
- Clean kitchen areas including worktops, appliances, and floors; manage waste and keep bins clean.
- Keep external waste areas tidy and ensure correct disposal.
- Report damage, defects, or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure equipment is used safely and maintained appropriately.
Laundry
- Operate laundry machinery (training provided).
- Sort soiled garments and prepare items for washing.
- Fold garments and identify items requiring repair.
- Sort and pack clean garments for return to residential houses.
Who We’re Looking For
Desirable
- Experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or domestic services.
- Customer‑service mindset.
- Experience in a residential school or similar environment.

- Satisfactory references (including current employer).
- Overseas criminal record checks (if applicable).
