Derby | Estimating Assistant
We are looking for an experienced Estimating Assistant to join our manufacturing team at our Derby site.
Require someone with estimating experience in a similar industry, or someone with relevant qualifications who likes maths & spreadsheets. Being able to read drawings & understand processors is key, some training can be given although you would need to be self-sufficient within 3 months
Working Hours
Monday – Thursday: 8.00am – 8.45pm
Friday: 8.00am – 12.30pm
Salary💷 £28,000 to £33,000 per annum, depending on experience

Purpose of role and accountabilities:
To provide an estimating service to the Derby Site team & External customers for RFQ & AOG requests in a timely manner.

To oversee the preparation and compilation of estimates for new business in response to requests for proposals.

Downloading & control of customer data for both RFQ’s & production parts

The evaluation and analysis of customer datasets, specifications and condition of supply documentation to identify the need for raw material, bought out and subcontract requirements.

To liaise with Engineering, Operations and Strategic Sourcing teams to prepare robust competitive proposals for customers.

To assist in the development of best practice estimating practices.

Collaborate with Commercial and Engineering upon receiving successful work packages and propose manufacturing strategy.

To create sales and estimating KPI on a regular basis with the Engineering team.
Core skills/attributes needed:
-
Achieved grade 5 minimum in GCSE English & Maths

Have a proficient understanding of Microsoft EXCEL

Ideally an Engineering qualification equivalent to HNC or above but not essential.

Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, dealing with urgent AOG requests as well as normal RFQ enquiries are advantageous but not essential.

An understanding of Paragon or similar MRP systems are advantageous.

A level of commercial acumen, with knowledge of bid compilation, estimating procedures and standard cost modelling. Demonstrated strength in numerical and financial analysis.

Knowledge / experience of the Aerospace or similar manufacturing Industry.

A knowledge of various elements including raw materials, associated manufacturing processes for metallic details and assemblies, resources and productivity.

Understanding of programme management and planning principles

Experience in an estimating / business development discipline will be advantageous.

Attention to detail and accurate in costing

Self-starter, with creative and “can do” attitude.
