Pay Rate: £37.00 per hour
Cafcass is currently seeking an experienced Family Court Adviser (FCA) to join their team on a temporary agency basis. This role is based in Brighton with responsibility for cases across Sussex and Surrey.
As an FCA, you will play a critical role in representing children's best interests within private family law proceedings, undertaking safeguarding assessments, preparing high‑quality reports for the court, and making clear, evidence‑based recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake safeguarding and risk assessments in private law cases
Prepare and present written and verbal evidence for court
Work directly with children and families to ascertain wishes and feelings
Liaise effectively with courts, local authorities, and partner agencies
Manage a caseload in line with Cafcass standards and timescalesEssential Criteria:
Social Work England registration
Right to Work in the UK
Qualified Social Worker with post‑qualifying experience
Previous experience working as a Family Court Adviser or within Cafcass/private law proceedings
Strong court report writing and analytical skillsDesirable Criteria:
Recent Cafcass experience
Experience covering Sussex and/or Surrey court areas
