A well-established Primary SEMH specialist school in Blackburn is seeking a committed Behaviour Support Assistant to work closely with pupils requiring additional emotional and behavioural support. This is a demanding yet highly rewarding role, ideal for individuals with strong resilience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
The Role - Behaviour Support Assistant
In this Behaviour Support Assistant role, you will support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions to help them engage with learning and develop positive behavioural patterns.
You will play a central role in managing challenging behaviour, using structured and consistent strategies to support emotional regulation and effectively de-escalate situations. Building strong, trusting relationships is key, as you will act as a reliable and positive role model for pupils who need stability, guidance, and encouragement.
You will be supporting pupils with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, and trauma-related behaviours, helping them overcome barriers and build confidence both in and out of the classroom.
