Paying circa £38k + Free onsite parking + Excellent benefits - We are delighted to be partnering with a pharmaceuticals company based in Manchester, that are seeking an experienced Assistant Management Accountant to join their team on a 12‑month fixed term contract basis. This is a hybrid role with two days per week working from home and an immediate start, so applicants must be available to start at short notice.
THE JOB
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Assistant Management Accountant will support the day‑to‑day financial operations of the site and the wider group finance function.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Head of Finance in delivering high‑quality financial support to budget holders, including accurate preparation of management accounts
- Preparing and reviewing financial data, journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly management accounts (with commentary) within agreed deadlines
- Assisting with statutory accounts, year‑end reconciliations, audit liaison, budgets and corporate reporting
- Managing intercompany reconciliations, project revenue recognition and maintaining fixed asset and investment registers
- Processing online banking transactions and providing cover for team members during absence
- Driving continuous improvement through process reviews, system efficiency, automation and knowledge sharing within the team
- Working collaboratively across the finance function to deliver excellent customer service and financial insight
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required
THE PERSON
- AAT Level 4 qualified and currently studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar finance or accounting role
- Strong working knowledge of accounting systems such as AX or SAP and Microsoft Office
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, budgeting and financial analytics
- Highly organised, methodical and accurate, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer‑focused approach
- A collaborative team player with keen attention to detail
