LEGAL ASSISTANT
A well-known and prominent West End law firm is seeking a part-time Legal Assistant to support a Consultant Solicitor in their Crouch End office. This temporary opportunity offers 16–21 hours per week and requires at least 12 months’ experience in a legal administrative or assistant role. Duties include file management, correspondence, and general office support. Ideal for a detail-oriented candidate with strong organisational and communication skills.
LEGAL ASSISTANT ROLE:
Managing physical and administrative filing systems, including creating, labelling, archiving, retrieving, and maintaining paper case files and indexes
Handling all incoming and outgoing post, including legal notices and court correspondence, preparing envelopes, arranging postage, and tracking important mail
Acting as the first point of contact for clients by answering calls professionally, taking accurate messages, greeting visitors, managing expectations, and liaising with the solicitor
Managing diaries and scheduling appointments, court dates, meetings, and key deadlines while tracking hearings, limitation periods, and reminders
Typing, transcribing, proofreading, and formatting dictated legal documents, including letters, pleadings, contracts, and amendments, while maintaining traditional legal styles and templates
Preparing physical court bundles and document packs in the correct order, filing documents at court where required, and recording filing dates and acknowledgements
Handling confidential information with discretion, maintaining a quiet and professional office environment, and acting as a calm intermediary between solicitor and clients
Supporting daily practice operations by organising the solicitor’s workspace, managing stationery supplies, preparing meeting refreshments when required, recording verbal instructions, and assisting with practice errands LEGAL ASSISTANT ESSENTIALS:
Holding existing UK working rights
Communicating excellently in both verbal and written formats
Being highly organised with a proactive working style
Being tech‑savvy, proficient in Microsoft 365, and able to pick up internal systems quickly
Working as a team player with a willingness to support beyond core responsibilities
Being comfortable working in office for the required hours
