An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Graduate / Assistant Transport Planner to join a multi-disciplinary consultancy in Birmingham, working on a wide range of development and infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is an ideal role for someone looking to gain hands-on experience across transport assessments, modelling and development planning, while benefiting from structured support and clear career progression.
The Opportunity
You'll be joining a collaborative and supportive team delivering transport planning services across a diverse range of projects, including:
Residential developments
Commercial and mixed-use schemes
Education and healthcare projects
Retail, logistics and industrial sites
Regeneration and public sector schemes
You'll gain exposure to projects from initial feasibility and planning stages through to detailed analysis and delivery, working closely with experienced planners and engineers.
The Role
As a Graduate / Assistant Transport Planner, you'll support the delivery of transport planning projects across multiple sectors.
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans
Supporting data collection, analysis and reporting
Assisting with junction capacity assessments and traffic modelling
Preparing technical reports and supporting documentation
Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders
Supporting senior team members across a range of projects
What We're Looking For
A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
Up to 2 years' experience (including placements) in transport planning or a related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Interest in development planning and infrastructure projects
Experience or exposure to software such as:
Junctions 9 / ARCADY / PICADY (desirable)
GIS or Excel-based analysis tools (beneficial)
