About the role:
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a QHSE Assistant to join our team.
As a QHSE Assistant, you will support the H&S Manager and the Quality Manager in leading the site’s Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental agenda.
You will help ensure the effective implementation of quality strategies, systems and processes to meet the requirements of BRC, A2 Permit, the Health and Safety Framework and other relevant standards, while ensuring all products consistently meet customer requirements and expectations.
As our QHSE Assistant you will:
- Support compliance with QHSE standards and legislation, including BRC, A2 Permit and ISO 14001.
- Deliver health and safety inductions for all new employees.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement across the site.
- Review, develop and maintain QHSE procedures, documentation and management systems in line with company standards.
- Maintain accurate hazard identification records, risk assessments and environmental compliance documentation.
- Support site readiness for internal and external audits, ensuring systems and operations remain audit-ready.
- Collect, analyse and maintain QHSE performance data, producing timely reports for management review.
- Assist with the investigation of customer complaints, incidents and environmental issues, supporting corrective and preventive actions.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of QHSE training and awareness initiatives.
- Support the H&S Manager and the Quality Manager with site strategy, objectives, KPIs and continuous improvement plans.
- Act as a point of contact for employees and managers on QHSE matters, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Uphold housekeeping and hygiene standards, promoting a clean, safe and well-organised working environment.
In order to be successful in this role you must have:
- Experience within a Health and Safety role is desirable, however, not essential
- At least 3 years’ experience in a QHSE role preferably within a manufacturing environment. Or extensive experience of implementing and improving standards such as BRC, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
- Internal auditor qualified (desirable, not essential)
- HACCP Level 3 trained (desirable, not essential)
- Ability to interface at all levels
- Ability to build a positive QHSE culture
- Strong effective decision making, organisational, time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Motivated team player
- Strong administration skills are essential for this role
- Competent user of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel & Outlook
- A reasonable level of fitness is required as the role involves some physical activity e.g. lifting & bending.
