Introduction:

We're recruiting for two Track Infrastructure Apprentices to join us at Hoo Junction.
Our Track Infrastructure Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to develop skills through work-based training such as Plain Line Inspection and Maintenance, Fence Line Inspection and Maintenance and Switch and Crossing Inspection and Maintenance.
On successful completion of your 24-month apprenticeship, you'll gain a Rail Engineering Operative, Level 2 qualification.
Responsibilities:
As a Track Infrastructure Apprentice, you'd be required to attend all workshops with the training provider including skills coach sessions that will be made available to support the theory and practical coursework.
You will also need to complete all coursework to the required timescales set by the training provider, this includes any project work that will be assigned to you as part of your studies.
Your work-based training and job responsibilities will include the following:
Supporting the inspection and maintenance of rail infrastructure assets
Assisting with plain line inspection and maintenance
Supporting switch and crossing inspection and maintenance
Carrying out fence line inspections and maintenance
Assisting with oiling and greasing of points
Supporting fish plate maintenance and renewal works
Helping to identify and report infrastructure defects
Assisting with the set up and maintenance of safe systems of work
Supporting the infrastructure team with general maintenance tasks
Learning how to apply Health & Safety legislation and rail industry regulations
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the infrastructure team
You'll also gain experience in safe working practices, engineering principles and teamwork while contributing to the safe and reliable operation of DB Cargo infrastructure.
You must be aged 18 or over for this position due to the safety critical aspect of the role.What are we looking for?

Motivated, reliable and willing to take responsibility for your own development
You must also:
Hold GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade 4 / C or above
Ideally hold GCSE Science at Grade 4 or above
Hold a full clean UK driving licence
Be willing to complete all apprenticeship coursework and training requirements.
Experience in engineering activities is advantageous but not essential.What matters to you?
