Mechanical Assembly Operative / Workshop Technician
Location: Derby
Rate: £15.69p/h PAYE
Contract: 3 Month Rolling
Shift: Monday to Friday – 08:00 - 4:30
We’re looking for a Mechanical Assembly Operative to join a busy engineering workshop supporting the build of bespoke conveyor and product handling systems, primarily used within food manufacturing environments.
This is a hands-on role working as part of a skilled workshop team, preparing and assembling components to a high standard in line with engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
De-burr and finish machined components
Carry out basic drilling, tapping, and part preparation
Assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies
Work from engineering drawings and instructions
Maintain quality standards across all work
Requirements:
Previous experience in a mechanical assembly or workshop environment
Strong de-burring and component finishing skills
Confident using hand and power tools
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience with drilling or basic machining operations
Good attention to detail and quality-focused approach
