Team and Events Administrator & PA
Location: Central London / London Bridge (SE1 2EL)
Hybrid Working: Minimum 3 days in the office (Tuesdays to Thursdays). Full-time remote position will not be offered.
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

This post will suit a highly organised person interested in being part of the fast-paced world of policy and research. There will be opportunities to make a real contribution to success of the Centre’s research projects, as well as ensuring the smooth running of the office and acting as the ‘glue’ of the team. We’re looking for someone who is happy to muck-in and multitask, and who’ll make the most of the opportunities the Centre for Cities can offer.
Centre for Cities is an independent, non-partisan research and policy institute. Committed to helping Britain’s cities improve their economic performance, the Centre produces practical research and policy advice for city leaders, Whitehall and employers.
The successful applicant will provide diary support to the Chief Executive, proactive administrative support to Head of Finance and Operations and support to the events team. The role will involve setting up meetings, supporting project managers to keep projects running to time and budget, assisting with public events, and managing the day to day running of the office.
Job description and responsibilities
Office management and team support:
- Day-to-day office management
- Administrative and IT team support
- Team travel arrangements
- Health & Safety management
PA
- Assist the Chief Executive with diary management, email correspondence and travel arrangements
- Logistical support for Board meetings and the Finance and Accounts Committee
Events / External Affairs support
- Assist with the management of the Centre’s database of contacts on CRM
- Provide logistical support in organising and delivering the Centre’s public and private events, online and in person, which includes sourcing venues, managing budgets and ensuring smooth delivery of the events.
- Sending speakers’ briefs and liaising with speakers ahead, during and post-event
Person specification
- Experience in office administration: we are looking for first-rate organisational and administrative skills
- Knowledge of IT, including Microsoft Office Products
- Experience in managing and delivering events, online and in person
- Interest in gaining experience of the wider External Affairs functions
- Proven ability to multitask and work proactively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-focused with excellent interpersonal skills, able to prioritise a busy workload
- Proven ability to manage others, including senior colleagues, and provide excellent customer service to external contacts
Desirable but not essential
- An interest in politics or research
