Shape Governance for a New National Institution
A rare opportunity to become the statutory Company Secretary for the newly created National Housing Bank (NHB)-a major new public financial institution backed by government to accelerate housing delivery across England.
You'll play a central role in establishing the governance framework of the NHB, supporting its Board and leadership as it becomes one of the most significant developments in public housing investment in a generation.
You will join Homes England's experienced central governance team, reporting to the Group Company Secretary, and help shape governance across the wider group.
The Role
As Company Secretary for the NHB, you will:

Provide expert governance support to the NHB Board, Chair and Directors.

Lead all Board and committee processes, ensuring robust, compliant governance.

Act as Head of Subsidiary Company Governance for the wider Homes England group.

Guide senior leaders with calm, authoritative advice.

Help build governance structures for a brand‑new national financial institution.

Drive continuous improvement and help deliver a high‑performing, collaborative governance service.
About You
You are an experienced governance professional who can confidently operate at Board level.
You'll bring:

Significant experience as a Company Secretary or senior governance lead.

Strong expertise in governance, compliance and company secretariat functions.

Experience supporting senior Boards and Directors in complex organisations.

A relevant qualification (e.g., CGI) or equivalent experience.

Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.

Ability to juggle priorities while delivering high‑quality governance.
Desirable:
Experience in investment, equity, guarantees, public bodies or financial institutions.
