Head of Court of Protection

About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Head of Court of Protection to lead their Private Client Court of Protection team. This is a senior position responsible for the management, development, and smooth running of the department, as well as overseeing client affairs under Deputyship and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
You will ensure high‑quality service delivery, compliant case management and effective supervision of staff. This role also includes regular client contact, including home and care setting visits, ensuring vulnerable clients receive exceptional support.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and develop the Court of Protection team, including processes, manuals, and staff supervision.

Apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) when handling client affairs.

Ensure all client files meet Deputy Standards and internal compliance requirements.

Record all decisions and actions accurately and maintain clear documentation.

Liaise with financial, medical, care, and social services professionals.

Ensure appropriate funding is in place and client income is maximised.

Prepare annual OPG returns, reconcile financial records, and manage billing.

Prepare Court of Protection applications and assist with LPA applications where required.

Maintain the LPA register and conduct scheduled client visits.

Handle Wills, LPAs, Inheritance Tax planning, and support with probate, trusts and complex estates.

Support business development activity, including networking and marketing events.

Ensure compliance with internal procedures, confidentiality, time recording and administration.

Participate in departmental meetings and ongoing training to maintain professional standards.
About You:

Experienced in Court of Protection work and Private Client matters.

Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

Knowledge of MCA 2005, Deputy Standards and relevant regulatory requirements.

Able to manage sensitive client relationships with professionalism.
