This heavy engineering company is embarking on a large-scale growth & transformation journey, with considerable investment from its parent company. As the company continues to grow and evolve, it is looking to recruit a Assistant Financial Controller to join their team at their Ellesmere Port site.
As the Assistant Financial Controller, you will support the UK finance operations and play a key role in integrating and collaborating with the US and European entities. This position will involve close coordination with both UK and US finance teams to ensure accurate reporting, consistent processes, and strong financial governance across the group.
How you’ll add value:

Review and report monthly management accounts for the UK entity.

Support group consolidation with the US parent, ensuring alignment with US GAAP and internal reporting standards.

Deliver variance analysis, cost reviews, and performance insights for senior leadership.

Maintain accurate financial records compliant with UK GAAP and internal controls.

Contribute to annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting, partnering with operational teams.

Assist with integrating US financial forecasts into wider group models.

Support product costing, margin analysis, and inventory valuation within a manufacturing environment.

Collaborate closely with US finance teams to ensure consistent reporting, processes, and systems.

Assist with internal controls, audits, and compliance across a multi site, international group.

Provide ad hoc financial analysis, project support, and cover for key finance activities when needed.
About you:

Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or equivalent experience.

Background in manufacturing finance, ideally manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industry.

Strong understanding of management accounting, cost accounting, and financial controls.

Working knowledge of US GAAP.

Confident working with large datasets, ERP systems, and advanced Excel.

Experience supporting multi site or international teams.

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across time zones.

Proactive, analytical, and comfortable in a fast moving environment.

High attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.

Able to build strong relationships, work independently, and adapt well during periods of change (e.g., integrations).
