Accounts Assistant – Agricultural Clients
Shrewsbury | Full-time | Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)

We’re working with a well-regarded firm in Shrewsbury, this role is specialising in agricultural and rural clients, offering a fantastic opportunity for an Accounts Assistant who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to develop deep expertise in agri accounts.
The Role
Working as part of an experienced team, you’ll gain hands-on exposure across a broad range of responsibilities, including:
Preparing year-end accounts and management accounts for a portfolio of agricultural and rural clients
Completing bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records
Producing and submitting VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
Supporting compliance work and ensuring deadlines are consistently achieved
Building strong working relationships with clients, acting as a reliable point of contact
Assisting senior staff on a variety of client assignments and projects
Contributing to a collaborative team environment and supporting junior colleagues where appropriate
About You
We’re looking for someone who is committed to a long-term future within accountancy practice, ideally with an interest in agricultural clients:
Previous experience in an accountancy practice is essential
AAT qualified or currently studying (or equivalent)
Solid grounding in accounts preparation, VAT and bookkeeping
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a practice environment
A team player with good communication skills
Someone who is keen to remain and grow within practice long-term, developing specialist knowledge over time
