Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking a Horticultural Assistant to support the delivery of plants and maintenance services across the Parks, Nature Reserves, gardens and green spaces. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week (Mon – Fri).
Overview:
The Horticultural Assistant will contribute to the delivery of plant stock and assist the parks team with a variety of gardening and maintenance tasks to ensure green spaces are well cared for and welcoming to the public.
Main Duties:

Support the delivery of plants to the horticultural maintenance service using a variety of propagation and production techniques

Assist the parks team with gardening and cleansing duties including planting schemes, shrub pruning, litter picking, and emptying bins

Carry out day-to-day production and maintenance of plant stock, including application of chemical herbicides and insecticides and driving Parks Vehicles when required

Ensure all duties are completed in compliance with relevant health and safety procedures

Work outdoors in all reasonable weather conditions
Essential Criteria:

Experience in horticulture or gardening maintenance

Knowledge of plant propagation and production techniques

Ability to apply chemical herbicides and insecticides safely

Experience of working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Good communication and customer care skills
