A well‑established organisation within the construction sector is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support busy project and finance operations. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a varied workload, is confident managing multiple ledgers, and thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Maintain the subcontractor ledger, including processing payments, handling internal/external queries, VAT checks and weekly payment runs
Manage the contract sales ledger, raising/issuing invoices, updating debtor reports, monitoring VAT status and completing cash matching
Support sales ledger tasks including invoicing, cash allocation and general administration
Maintain contract documentation in Teams/SharePoint, ensuring all project records are up to date for audit purposes
Manage retentions, including raising invoices, updating reports and handling queries
Reconcile scrap metal logs to site records and investigate missing information
Process internal cost and revenue transfers and maintain monthly updates
Support accruals monitoring and reporting for project close‑downs
Assist with audit preparation, collating documentation and providing required data
Open and close jobs in line with project protocols
Skills:
Previous experience in a contract accounting, project accounting or construction finance environment
Strong attention to detail and confident managing multiple deadlines
Good working knowledge of Excel and financial systems
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across operational teams
