Assistant Buyer/Buyer - Residential Developer - Hertfordshire
Salary: £(Apply online only) per day
A well-established residential developer is seeking an Assistant Buyer or Buyer with experience of procuring materials and subcontract packages for residential developments to support ongoing and upcoming projects across Hertfordshire. Ideally the individual will have experience working within the residential construction sector, preferably with a housebuilder or main contractor, and demonstrate longevity in previous positions.
Responsibilities

Manage procurement of materials and subcontract packages: Source, negotiate, and place orders for construction materials and subcontractor packages in line with project programmes, budgets, and company procurement procedures. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable delivery and competitive pricing.

Control purchasing processes and supplier performance: Issue enquiries, review quotations, compare supplier bids, and prepare purchase orders. Monitor supplier performance, track deliveries to ensure materials arrive on schedule, and resolve any procurement issues that may impact site progress.

Ensure cost efficiency and reporting: Work closely with commercial and site teams to ensure procurement aligns with project budgets and specifications. Maintain accurate purchasing records, monitor cost movements in the supply chain, and support reporting on procurement activity and cost savings across developments.
Requirements

Previous / recent experience working as a Buyer within residential construction

Previous positions working for a housebuilder or main contractor

Longevity of previous positions and a desire to go the distance in a new position
