Housing Team Leader (Temporary – Approx. 6 Months)

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Housing Team Leader to support the Housing Manager with a variety of service-improvement projects and the day‑to‑day coordination of the Housing Team. This is an excellent interim opportunity for a confident housing professional who can quickly provide operational stability, drive performance, and help deliver high-quality landlord services.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Housing Manager with operational and strategic projects to enhance overall service performance.

Assist in the day‑to‑day leadership and coordination of the Housing Team, ensuring workloads are balanced and service standards consistently met.

Provide professional guidance and oversight to staff managing tenancy cases, ensuring a customer‑focused and consistent approach.

Support key housing management activities, including voids, allocations and tenancy sustainment, to minimise rent loss and improve turnaround times.

Ensure tenants receive clear, compassionate and timely communication across all channels, including home visits, telephone and written correspondence.

Promote financial inclusion by ensuring tenants are signposted to income, welfare and tenancy‑support services.

Maintain compliance with relevant housing legislation, regulatory frameworks and internal policies.

Assist in managing complex cases including safeguarding, ASB, tenancy breaches and other high‑risk areas.

Build strong working relationships with internal departments and external partners to support effective multi‑agency working.
The Ideal Candidate

Strong technical knowledge and hands‑on experience in tenancy and neighbourhood management within social housing.

Experience supporting, coordinating or supervising Housing Officers, with the ability to motivate and guide staff.

Understanding of performance management, customer service standards and using data to drive improvements.

Confident working collaboratively with partner agencies and multi‑agency networks.

Solid knowledge of housing legislation, regulation and compliance requirements.

Experience handling complex tenancy, ASB and safeguarding matters within a social housing context.

A proactive, organised and solution‑focused approach, with the ability to balance operational needs and project-based work
