Junior Accounts Assistant

Proactive Personnel are recruiting for a Junior Accounts Assistant on behalf of their well-established manufacturing client in Shropshire.
Working within a small finance team, the Accounts Assistant will report directly to the Financial Accountant and support the finance department with the day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks required to ensure the smooth running of the company.
Mon-Fri: 8am – 5pm | 1-hour lunch, Office based
Salary: £25,397.00-£27,000.00 per year
Duties Include but not limited to:

Accurately process multi-currency purchase ledger invoices through invoice capture program and match against a purchase order in Access Dimensions

Accurately log multi-currency invoices onto Sage and complete filing as appropriate.

Ensure invoices and/or Purchase Orders are approved in accordance with company policy.

Assist in managing joint mailbox, responding to emails, dealing with queries.

Process expense claims and credit card statements.

Produce payment run for due and approved invoices

Provide effective credit control, including reviewing sales ledger accounts, contacting customers regarding overdue payments and raising debit notes where appropriate

Assist in the reconciliation of supplier statements and any discrepancies

Provide reception cover as required including meeting and greeting visitors and answering calls via the switchboard.

Produce and maintain spreadsheets and records as required.

Set up payments on the on-line banking system for authorisation by a manager.

Accounting support including reconciliations and postings

Other general accounting and administration duties which may be required from time to time.

Comply with all Health and Safety requirements within the company
Ideal Candidate:
-
Previous experience of working in a busy finance department (Desired but not essential)

Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be confident answering calls and working with staff throughout the business

Organised with high standards of accuracy and attention to detail

Experience of using Access Dimensions, Sage or other accounting software (Desired but not essential)

Good level of general IT and Microsoft Office skills

Must have a ‘can do’ attitude, be self-motivated and be able to work on own initiative
