Milk Education are recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support young adults aged 19–25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in a specialist educational environment, supporting learners to develop independence, confidence, and practical life skills.
About the Setting
The setting supports young adults with a wide range of needs, including learning difficulties, autism, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Learners benefit from a highly structured and supportive environment, with tailored programmes designed to develop academic, social, and vocational skills.
The team works collaboratively to create a safe and inclusive environment where each learner is encouraged to achieve their potential. There is a strong focus on promoting independence, wellbeing, and employability skills alongside academic development, and staff are supported with professional development opportunities and mentoring.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for learners with complex needs
Assist with medication administration & personal care
Support learners’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, using positive behaviour management strategies
Implement and contribute to individual learning and behaviour plans
Adapt teaching resources and activities to meet learners’ needs
Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
Support transitions, life skills, and vocational activities
Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider pastoral team to ensure a consistent and supportive approach
This role requires flexibility, patience, and creativity to respond to the individual needs of learners and support their progress in both academic and life skills.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience working in SEND education, care, or SEMH settings
Be confident in personal care, medication administration, and behaviour management
Be patient, approachable, and resilient
Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
Have a clear understanding of safeguarding and health & safety procedures
Be committed to promoting learners’ independence, wellbeing, and personal development
